The ACTEDS Training Catalog

Appendix E
Army Resume Builder Instructions

The DA Form 2302-R, Civilian Qualification Record, has been replaced by a resume. In order to standardize the application process, the Army Resume Builder should be used to create a resume for training applications. Although the Army Resume Builder has instructions online, these instructions focus on creating a resume for ACTEDS training opportunities.

The Army Resume Builder was redesigned in Jan 2005 - The new Army Resume Builder is Here

Creating a Resume

You may create a new resume or use an existing resume. Follow the online instructions

Supplemental Format

In Step 2 for "Create New Resume" select Inservice-No Supplemental Data (use only if you are currently employed and serviced by Pacific CPOC). This selection will give you the resume versions without the supplemental data questions.

Required Fields

There are several fields on this form that are required. A red asterisk to the left of the field name denotes all required fields. For example:

red star Name
red star Address

Some required fields depend on another entry. For example: In the employment section. If you fill out any fields related to current or previous employment, you must enter the name of the corresponding employer

Do I need to complete all sections?

The Army Resume Builder was developed primarily to allow people to apply for job vacancy announcements. As indicated above, there are some required fields (marked by a red asterisk, red star) that must be completed even though the sections may not be needed for training applications. Be sure to complete all the required fields (indicated by a red red star). There are some fields can be left blank if you are only applying for training opportunities.

  • Source Code - LEAVE BLANK
  • Words per minute you can type/take dictation - LEAVE BLANK

APO addresses

You may enter "APO" in the City/APO field, "AE" (or "AP", etc.) in the State field, and your postal code in the ZIP field. For stateside and APO addresses: state and zip fields are required. However, if you have a local overseas address, you will receive an error message when you validate your resume. Persons with local overseas addresses can ignore this message and continue to validate the resume.

Do you want a copy/Printing a Resume?

If you would like a copy of your resume, be sure to enter a valid electronic mail (e-mail) address on the resume form. This address will be used notify you that your resume has been received. To receive a copy of the resume , you must first submit your resume to the database. Go the first page of the resume builder and select "Send Out Existing Resume." Enter your e-mail address in part 3.

The e-mail you receive will be a simple ASCII text file. You may save the email to a floppy or hard drive on your PC for later reference.

  • From the email that you receive, cut and paste the resume to a word document. Make any format changes that are appropriate and print the formatted word document.

Note: You acknowledge your consent to transmitting personal information about yourself across lines of communication by filling out your resume.
This method of transmission may not be secure.

Can I submit the resume online?

Because the resume is only part of the application package, it cannot be submitted online. You should print your resume (using the process indicated above) and submit it as part of a complete training application package.
