DCIPS Dual Track Career Progression

DCIPS replaces CIPMS. Until all references can be updated, both terms may appear and are considered interchangeable

DCIPS Career Paths were specifically set up to include dual career tracks for Technical Experts and for Managers/Supervisors. Dual tracking provides the potential for employees to progress to the same levels as either non-supervisory (technical specialists/experts) or managers/supervisors. This concept fosters the development and utilization of careerists’ skills and abilities, whether technical or managerial, to the best advantage for effective and efficient mission accomplishment. With dual tracks in place, there is no arbitrary benefit in classifying a position from one side to the other as equivalent opportunities are offered in both tracks.

Note: The DCIPS dual track concept extends to positions above grade GG 15. Technical experts and specialists can establish career goals in the Defense Intelligence Senior Level (DISL) program. Careerists with managerial skills and career goals can rise to executive rank in the Defense Intelligence Senior Executive Service (DISES). Although senior level positions are available, DCIPS is not exempt from management of high-grades, and special allocation and approval processes apply prior to establishment of either DISES or DISL positions.
