MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION
SUBJECT: Notifying Emergency-Essential Employees Regarding Anthrax Immunization Requirements



Pursuant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense memorandum dated June 25, 2001 (Enclosure 1), subject as above, addressees are directed to take appropriate action to ensure that all emergency-essential employees are notified of the anthrax immunization requirements.

Written notice of the anthrax immunization requirements shall be provided to all emergency-essential employees. Enclosure 2 is provided as a sample notification. Acknowledgement of the receipt of this notification must be accomplished by obtaining the signature of each emergency-essential employee. A copy of this acknowledgement must be filed with the signed DD Form 2365, DoD Civilian Employee Overseas Emergency-Essential Position Agreement for each emergency-essential employee. This requirement applies to both current and new emergency-essential employees.

Notice of the anthrax immunization requirements shall be included in all vacancy announcements for emergency-essential positions. Enclosure 3 is provided as a sample notification. The position descriptions of all emergency-essential positions shall be reviewed to determine whether inclusion of this requirement is appropriate.

Implementation of this memorandum is subject to local activities satisfying their statutory and contractual labor relations' obligations.
