MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION

SUBJECT: Classification Guidance Rescission



  1. Effective immediately, the following classification guidance is no longer valid and is rescinded. Explanatory information is provided for your information.
    1. Memorandum, HQ, Department of the Army (HQDA), dated 10 July 1967, subject: Civilian Personnel Occupational Standard, CPOS 201 Personnel Officer Positions (Enclosure 1). This occupational standard became obsolete when the Office of Personnel Management (OPM) issued the General Schedule Supervisory Guide (GSSG) in June 1998 and the Job Family Position Classification Standard for Administrative Work in the Human Resources Group, GS-0200 in December 2000. /li>
    2. Memorandum, HQDA, Director, Civilian Personnel Management, dated 15 June 1990, subject: Civilian Personnel Occupational Standard (CPOS) - Garrison Management (Enclosure 2). This occupational standard became obsolete when the OPM issued the GSSG in June 1998. The GSSG provides a tool to measure supervisory positions above the second level. /li>
    3. Memorandum, HQDA, Director, Civilian Personnel Management, dated 03 August 1993, subject: Supplemental Guidance for the Boiler Plan Operator Job Grading Standard, 5402 (Enclosure 3). The OPM issued the Boiler Plant Operator Job Standard, 5402, in March 1991. The Department of the Army issued this explanatory guidance to assist management and human resources (HR) specialists in determining the correct grade level for positions. This guidance is no longer used to determine correct grade level. /li>
    4. All but one of the Army civilian position descriptions (PD) formerly classified by Title 5 CPOS guidance have been reclassified by the DOD1400.25-M, National Security Personnel System. The remaining PD is unencumbered and has been archived. /li>
