MEMORANDUM FOR SEE DISTRIBUTION
SUBJECT: Department of Defense (DOD) Telework Policy and Guide Dated October 22, 2001

This transmits the DoD Telework Policy and Guide at Enclosure 1. The Department of the Army will not be providing supplemental guidance. Please submit the Appropriated Fund report on the status of your Command's Telework Program by January 10, 2002. A format for this report is at Enclosure 2.

Department of Defense Nonappropriated fund (NAF) has also adopted the telecommuting program for NAF Employees. NAF employees may be offered the opportunity to participate in Telework provided they occupy eligible positions and that bargaining obligations are accomplished. You are advised to maintain official work schedules of those NAF employees' hours whose work is performed in a Telework status. This will serve to resolve issues that may arise concerning employee status such as worker's compensation claims. A code is being developed in the Time Labor Management System for recording future hours. There are no reporting requirements, or numbers of employees required to participate in the program. All other provisions of the DOD Telework Policy apply to NAF employees the same as for appropriated fund employees.

Telework points of contact are Ms. Carol Simley, at (703) 325-9980, DSN 221-9980, for appropriated fund employees, and Ms. Sandra Curran for NAF at (703) 325-7762, DSN 221-7762.
